PEACE IN JERUSALEM But the battle is not over yet!

Product Information

A behind-the-scenes, real Middle East peace process!  Arabs, Palestinians, and Jews--spiritual leaders--from all over the Middle East came to Jerusalem in spite of adversity and danger to worship together, pray for each other, and tell their stories--all reported by seasoned British journalist, Charles Gardner.

Amidst the turmoil of the Middle East with virtual civil wars erupting all around, this remarkable peace process is taking place in which Arabs, Jews, and Christians are embracing one another in the name of Jesus!  A special event,  At the Crossroads,  was held to inspire pastors and other leaders from the region to connect. The results of the event help to prove that Christ is the ultimate reconciler, and that the “Prince of Peace” holds the key to a stable future in the area. Read all about this remarkable event, the time leading up to it, the organization behind it, the stories told by those who attended, and the lessons learned.

This is a Middle East peace process that does not involve politicians or bureaucrats! At its heart are believers in the One who died in Jerusalem to reconcile man to God—and each other. Charles Gardner has seen the evidence of this with his own eyes as he witnessed Arab and Jew embracing one another with arms of love, not hate. This book digs beneath the propaganda put out by a largely liberal media and tells the truth about what’s really happening as the Jewish people face yet another threat of extinction by their sworn enemies.

Charles Gardner is a writer who combines passion with integrity and has a strong commitment to revealing the truth about what is happening in the Middle East today. Over many years his journalism skills have been focused upon Israel and in Peace in Jerusalem he deals with personal relationships between Jews and Arabs as well as social and political issues in the context of the ever-present threats to world peace through the activities of some of Israel’s neighbors. This is a good read and I warmly commend it.

Listen to a radio interview of the author in Oct. 2013 on Bagels and Blessings.  The interview begins after the music at about the 28:40 minute mark, about halfway.

Here's a summary of the interview written by the host Ethel Chadwick:

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Charles came to England in 1970, at the age of 21, to visit his half-Jewish grandmother. He ended up staying, though South Africa is still home to him.

He became a committed believer shortly afterward this visit through the influence of a South African friend, through athletics. He worshipped at All Souls, Langham Place, a famous church in central London, for the rest of the 70's. He had a 'spiritual mother' who led the class for new believers, and she always referred to herself as a 'completed Jew'. One of the first jobs he accepted at the church was to write to some of their missionaries, and this included a couple who worked with CMJ (Church's Ministry to the Jewish people) among the Falasha Jews of Ethiopia. Charles supposed he had always had something of an understanding about Messianic issues, but this has gone much deeper in recent years through involvement in a Prayer for Israel group.

In 2010, while on holiday he had a strong word from God about being a 'Helper of Israel' and, being a journalist by profession, he eventually realized God wanted him to write a book answering the question as to why the Jews are so important to him. It's called Israel the Chosen, available on Amazon. Having just recently taken early retirement, at the age of 64, he intends to continue writing. He would love to see his longtime vision fulfilled —that of launching a new UK national newspaper reporting and interpreting the news (especially on the Middle East) from a biblical perspective.

Great music also in the beginning half of the show -- from Beckah Shae, Barry & Batya Segal, Sue Samuel, Lamb, and John Waller.

A second radio interviewof the author in Feb. 2014 by Ethel Chadwick on Bagels and Blessings. It starts after the music at about the 30:40 minute mark.  These interviews were done before Charles even thought of publishing Peace in Jerusalem.

Here's Ethel's summary of the interview:

Charles is a 64-year-old South African-born journalist living in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. He has followed the Lord for over 40 years and, though having worked mainly in the secular press, has also launched several Christian publications.

Having taken early retirement from his regular job as a sports editor, he is now working for CMJ (the Church's Ministry among the Jewish people), a 204-year-old Anglican mission whose founders include the legendary William Wilberforce and who now also have a growing presence in the USA. Recently in Jerusalem he met one of the key leaders in America (from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania). His link with CMJ goes back to his early days as a believer when he was charged with the responsibility of writing to missionaries then working among the Falasha Jews of Ethiopia. His new work is still in communications, specifically editing the mission's quarterly Prayer Focus for supporters and helping to prepare for a unique conference in Jerusalem this May focused on deepening the bonds of reconciliation between Arab & Jewish believers throughout the Middle East. “I have had a heart for Israel for a long time. But three years ago, while reading Isaiah, I felt strongly impressed to be a ‘Helper of Israel’. So here I am, ready to help.”

Charles has just published Israel the Chosen (available from Amazon), is married to Linda, 56, who teaches Christianity and Judaism in primary schools, and has four children and seven grandchildren.

Today's show features new music from Avner & Rachel Boskey from their new CD, "Four Winds."

Peace in Jerusalem? Yes. it is possible!

Former Fleet Street journalist and Times of Israel writer Charles Gardner follows up his excellent book 'Israel the Chosen' with this powerful sequel which concentrates on the only real solution to the conflict in the middle east. Part Jewish himself, Charles has been writing on the subject for many years and has seen for himself as Jews and Arabs embrace in the name of Jesus Christ, described in the Bible as the ‘Prince of Peace.’ Forthright in his approach, the writer does not mince his words as he levels well deserved criticism at the media for their hypocrisy and compliance to ridiculous political correctness. Despite the fact that many of the surrounding Islamic nations refuse to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist and have vowed to destroy the tiny nation if they could, many in the media still seem hell-bent on supporting anti-Semitic terrorism. But the main emphasis of the book is not critical, rather it is totally positive. Charles shares some miraculous stories of divine intervention and reveals how even some of the most hardened anti-Semitic Moslems have been radically changed through recent supernatural encounters with Jesus Christ. Charles is absolutely pro-peace. He reveals that peace in Jerusalem is certainly possible, but it must be on God’s terms, not man’s. No amount of negotiation or political toadying can bring lasting peace to such a deep rooted conflict. Only by embracing the peace and love brought to the region by Jesus Christ two thousand years ago can the middle east truly find tranquility. Charles also issues a pointed challenge to the current liberal trend in the Church, which seems to be struggling to remember her Jewish heritage. Another great work by this passionate and godly writer, 'Peace in Jerusalem' is a must read for anyone with a genuine desire to see lasting calm and cultural healing in this tragic war-torn region.
